Wesley Laird, opened the firm in Opp in 1987.  David Baker, from Birmingham, joined the firm in 1992 and Thomas A.  Blackstock, Jr. (Andy), a farmer’s son from Opp, joined in 1996.  In 2000, the current firm of Laird, Baker & Blackstock was formed.  Together, the three partners have over 75 years in broad experience in handling legal matters.  

The three lawyers have worked together in class actions and multi-district litigation to achieve results for their clients, including litigating as class counsel for the Plaintiffs in a Covington County case representing all city schools in Alabama that ended with a $41 million settlement that continues to benefit school children today.  And they have each been successful in personal representation.

Wesley L. Laird, or Wes Laird to most, has collected more than $10 million in recent years in 18 wheeler and trucking litigation, and has achieved multi-million dollar settlements in construction accident and product liability litigation.  Wes Laird grew up on the family farm in Florala, Alabama and is no stranger to hard work or operating heavy equipment.  This experience and work ethic has helped achieve over $75 Million combined verdicts or settlements in trucking, construction accidents, product liability, wrongful death, personal injury, class actions, and insurance litigation.  He is a long time Board Member of the Alabama Association for Justice.
